Heather’s Summer Giveaway!!

I’m excited to announce that you can now enter to win the first ever Heather’s Speech Therapy Summer Giveaway!! It is sort of a mid-summer celebration of…summer vacation! Since I’ve started ordering some things for the upcoming 2012-2013 school year, I thought I’d like to give you a few things too!  You can use these items at home with your kids, with your speech clients, or with your students in the upcoming school year!

How to Enter

You can enter this giveaway by leaving a comment on this post.  Please, just one entry/comment per person.  Since it is summer, please answer one of these questions in your comment:

What is your favorite thing to do during the summer? or What fun speech therapy thing (conference, new book, new game) are you really liking and would recommend for other SLPs, SLPAs, or graduate students?

Remember to leave your full name and email address after your comment/answer.  All names will be entered into the final drawing and one name will be selected.  I will be randomly selecting a name from all the entries (think a bunch of pieces of paper with names on them in a big bowl and my husband choosing one out while closing his eyes.  Yeah, I know. So high tech!).

The winner will be announced on Monday, July 30th!  Thank you for entering and good luck!

Enter now through Friday, July 27th.  Winner will be announced, Monday, July 30th!

HERE IS THE PRIZE!  The winner will receive a package that will include the following items:

1 $15 dollar iTunes Gift Card

1 Rory’s Story Cubes Actions Game – a game of 9 cubes for a total of 54 images to help you create zillions of silly stories from lots of action verbs! Great for story grammar, narrative skills, verb tenses, and vocabulary! (Ages 8+)

1 Olivia Leads a Parade (Book) – I love the Olivia storybook series.  She is the cutest piglet who gets herself into some fun situations.  I find that kids really like her adventures.  I use these books for modeling good oral grammar, story retell skills, and expanding vocabulary.  They are colorful, high interest books.  I think you will like this one!

1, 2-Pack of Pilot G2 Gel Ink Pens – (my favorite pens ever – once you go Pilot G2 Gel Ink, you may never go back – use at your own risk! 🙂 ).

AND as a little something extra…1 Package of adorable Post-It Notes – (because I can’t live without them and one can never have too many).

Thanks for entering!

Note* All prizes were purchased by Heather’s Speech Therapy especially for you and this giveaway! If you would like to purchase any of these items, please go to the page titled Store to find their link to purchase through Amazon.

  1. During the summer I usually like to relax at the beach all summer long! But this summer I am taking classes and are unable to relax. But its still a great situation bc I am at the beach but working hard:)
One thing that has been a hit this past year was The Cookie Thief game! All kids of all ages loved this while we worked! It was hard to get them to do anything else!!

My favorite thing to do in the summer is spend extra time with my kids and go home to visit my family.

One game I started using recently with my older elementary and middle school students is Apples to Apples Junior. It is a great tool for building expressive language skills. There is also a kids Disney version as well.

  3. Alicia Johnson says:

My favorite thing to do in the summer is hang out with my son and take him to lots of finn and educational places!

  4. Brittany says:

Hi Heather! My favorite thing to do during the summer months is to spend quality time with my 6 month old little boy! I have also been spending a lot of time this summer finding new therapy ideas on Pinterest! Gotta love that place 🙂

  5. Corine Stucker says:

I am an SLPA student finishing up my last four classes and practicums for my certification later this fall. I’m enjoying this summer for additional reading time, following favorite blogs, researching for creative ideas to include in my SLP Tool Box, and building great contacts/networking. Enjoy the day!

  6. Our favorite summer activity is flying by the seat of our pants. During the school year we run a tight ship, but come June we throw the schedule out the window. Go to bed later, get up later and do summer schoolwork whenever (though it must be done!). While the kids are working I gather materials for the school year…which is why I’m here!

  7. Jennifer Battle says:

My favourite thing to do is relax and think of more ways to introduce fun ideas to my articulation program! I try to stay away from the internet world though, as you can search for hours with so many different ideas out there!
When we make learning fun, the kids progress so much faster!

  8. Debbie Miller says:

My favorite thing to do this summer has been discovering Pinterest and exploring fun activities and games for the upcoming school year.

  9. Ashley Parker says:

I am newly graduated and beginning my first SLP job in the fall at a local elementary school. I have been using these summer months to brush up on all my child based therapy ideas as well as looking for fun and new activities to use with my new students. I cannot wait to begin this journey!

  10. Speechy Rebecca says:

Love your site! My favorite thing to do during the summer is sleep in and enjoy the ability to do some of those fun things or home projects that get neglected during the school year! As for work related things, I try to spend a few hours each week getting organized for the upcoming year ~ data sheets and notebooks, attendance sheets, folders, etc. It really helps!

  11. My favorite thing to do in the summer is spend time with my family and grill on the BBQ. I also love to create new activities for the upcoming school year and peruse Pinterest. 🙂

  12. Melissa Steine says:

My favorite thing to do in the summer is sleep in! When I do get up, I enjoy the lazy, no-rush day by checking Pinterest, planning dinner, baking cookies, running to the store for whatever is on my ever-present list, and just relaxing. I use my time during the summer to work on crafty or cleaning projects that I put off during the school year. I love my job, but I love my summers off, too! 🙂

  13. My newest favorite summer activity….meet some students at a local playground. Today I met 3 of my students for a quick and fun summer speech lesson. We were joined with an OT and a PT and the kids used language skills, pragmatic language and articulation skills. I am also pen pals with 2 soon to be 5 th graders. They tell me jokes and I send them lists of words to practice.

  14. Wow! I love hearing from you all! Sounds like you are enjoying a great summer! Our summers sort of sound similar! A little relaxing, a little prep for the year, a little work or school, and lots of family time!
And I love hearing about what you are reading or creating! I’m getting some great ideas! You’re all amazing. Thanks for taking time to enter and comment!

    Heather 🙂

  15. Sue Blankenship says:

My favorite thing to do during the summer is RELAX! What I am excited about for back-to-school is some of the materials I am making to use with my students: I SPY bags with target sound toys & rice in pencil pouches, I SPY shaped containers with speech words & pom poms & beads, a felt “road” to velcro to the floor and drive a dumptruck on when we collect blocks from “houses” (target speech pictures).

  16. Tammy Harris says:

My favorite summer activities include spending quality time with my kids, traveling, organizing my therapy materials, and discovering new websites/blogs developed by speech/language pathologists. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge and materials with all of us!

  17. Nancy Hamilton says:

I am in my 11th month of graduate school, studying Reading and Reading Disabilities. My favorite thing to do this summer is play with my two year old son:). Oh…and have a baby on Monday!!! Can’t wait.

  28. I just recently started using LessonPix, an online tool for creating custom materials using clipart (think: Bingo, picture cards, etc). I was a little cynical at first, but after making some materials, I’m pretty impressed. My favorite feature is the “Sound Finder,” where you can find pictures representing words that have a specific sound(s) in a specific part of the word (e.g. initial, medial, final, anywhere)–it’s pretty cool for preparing artic/phono-related activities among other things. Thanks for doing this giveaway. 🙂 It looks awesome!

  29. Brandy Madujibeya says:

My favorite thing to do is to work at summer camps. I get a break from paperwork and planning activites and love going the field trip with the kids because they make laugh and smile.

  30. Sharon Swindell says:

Thank you so much for the opportunity to win some summer candy! During the summer months, I love to recharge by spending time with my kids. There are so many days during the school year when I’m returning home late because of meetings or paperwork that I really try to create those fun summer memories without thinking too much about work. However, I always have a big bag of “to do” projects that I bring home with me from school. I am so much of a Pinterest addict that I have printed off many activities that need assembled I am thinking of having my kids help me!

  31. Jennifer Green says:

My favorite thing to do in the summer is go to the lake. We spend as much time doing things outdoors as possible!

  32. Jada Fenichel says:

I like to RELAX and catch up on books that I didn’t have time to read during the school year. This is the first summer that I am working summer school so I have been making a lot of therapy materials… printing…laminating…cutting!

  33. My favorite thing to do in the summer is make speech materials! Well…in between going to the beach 🙂
